My Background

The Hon. Ros Spence MP is the Member for Kalkallo in the Victorian Legislative Assembly and a dedicated advocate for Melbourne’s rapidly growing northern communities. Ros was first elected to Parliament in 2014 as the Member for Yuroke, serving until the electorate’s abolition in 2022, when she became the inaugural Member for the new electorate of Kalkallo.

Ros has built her career on strong community advocacy. Before entering Parliament, she worked as an electorate officer across state and federal offices, served as Operations Manager for the Victorian branch of the Australian Labor Party, and volunteered as a solicitor at the Broadmeadows Community Legal Centre. She also represented the community on Hume City Council from 2008 to 2012, including terms as Deputy Mayor and Mayor.

Ros currently serves in several significant Cabinet roles. She is the Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Treaty and First People, Minister for Community Sport and Minister for Carers and Volunteers. These portfolios reflect her commitment to fairness, social inclusion, community wellbeing and equity.

Ros lives locally with her family and remains focused on delivering worldclass infrastructure, schools, services, and opportunities for families in Melbourne’s north.
