The Electoral District of Kalkallo is one of Victoria’s newest and fastestgrowing state electorates. Created during the 2021 boundary redistribution and first contested in the 2022 State Election.
Spanning approximately 262 square kilometres, Kalkallo covers a dynamic mix of suburban and ruralfringe communities in Melbourne’s northern corridor. The electorate includes Craigieburn, Mickleham, Kalkallo, Beveridge, Yuroke and Wallan, reflecting both established population centres and rapidly developing growth areas.
Kalkallo has experienced remarkable population expansion driven by major new housing developments and increased infrastructure investment. The suburb of Kalkallo alone has grown significantly in recent years, supported by new estates, schools, and retail precincts.
The electorate is defined by:
High numbers of young families and children
Strong residential development and new community infrastructure
A blend of suburban convenience and rural charm, offering open landscapes, community spirit, and easy access to metropolitan Melbourne
With its rapid growth, diversity, and strong local identity, Kalkallo represents the future of Melbourne’s northern expansion.
